We all have strength enough to endure the misfortunes of others. Hypocrisy is the homage that vice pays to virtue. We are never so happy nor so unhappy as we suppose. If we had no faults of our own, we would take less pleasure in noticing those of others. There is no disguise which can long conceal love where it exists, nor feign it where it does not.
